Why i hate repairs..

I’ve been using my laptop for 6 years now, n taken it in for repairs only twice.

Why? Vanity mostly.. and i got screwed over both times!!

The first time it was two years back, my casing was getting pretty old, and i thought what the heck, lets go get a new one, instead of getting a new laptop. So i gave it in, and for 1500, my casing was brand new!

But there was a problem!

It wouldn’t turn on when it was only on battery power!! It required the power supply to be plugged in! It would run on battery, just wouldn’t power up on it. And there was nothing which could be done then, so i kind of left it at that..

Then today, i decide to try once more to get it fixed.. Gave it in the morning, got it back by evening with the power button still not working right (they now say its a problem with the motherboard and i need to replace it, potentially costing 14k easy!)

And if that wasn’t enough! The fan is now making strange noises… and the ‘0′ key wont press easily!!!!

I’m cursed that way… i cant seem to get things right in the first go, need to do it again and again. Arrgghh!! So its back to the service center tomorrow….

Ah you struck a very familiar note.Laptops are notorius for breaking down as compared to their big brother Desktops. Do you have a warranty?.
I have had the same problem with my notebook that is fan started to make noises(just like pedastal fan) and then note book started to heat up and final outcome would be death of my notebook :).Now i am cursing myself for choosing notebook over desktop but for futre if you dont have to carry it around go for desktops.
By the way what kind of battery your computer use, recently there was a recalled of lithium batteries.Make sure you dont have recalled batteries.Good luck

Laptop heating up is quite common problem and lap’s motherboard has on board sensors which trigger once it heats up and activates the fan and people then complain that their fan is always on…..
problem is dust… mostly with desktop one can open up the casing and use a air blower and blow off all the dust and temperature stays down… problem with laptop is that the dust keeps on accumulating in laptop and it can’t be cleaned so the poor fan is always ON… solution for this is clean the heatsink (i pesonally do that my self and clean both my lap and desktop) but mostly people hesitate to open up latop so its good to take it to some professional techie to do the job….

bottom line is do keep your systems clean… i have seen some people who have’nt even opened the casing since the day they
