the promise

“You want me to do what!! but you’re almost like family!” she cried incredulously at his suggestion… Thinking back, this was what she wanted… he was who she wanted. Now was the time… she had to tell her father she wanted to marry his best friend’s son…

“she’s turning 25, already graduated, and at the prime of her beauty. It’s time we got her married off u know” she said to her husband about their eldest daughter. “uh huh” he grunted… not knowing how to tell his wife of the promise he’d made earlier…

“promise me! promise me you’ll treat my family as your own after i’m gone!” he pleaded to his best friend on his deathbed.. the cancer had come out of the blue and he knew he’d soon be gone. “I will. I’ll take care of them. One day, we’ll be one family!” he promised…

    except the cancer part.. if only everything worked out like that on its own.. so perfect, they seem like pieces of a jigsaw puzzle

    dysfunctional: thanks! atleast i got the msg across to someone… the cancer added an additional twist to it, added a bit of… color to the jigsaw puzzle.
