karma

Over the years, one of the basic beliefs that i’ve developed is karma. Karma, being an sanskrit word, means ‘action, effect, destiny’. It is the sum of a person’s actions, regarded as determining that person’s future states of existence. In essense, it is cause and effect. A comedy series, “my name is earl” is completely devoted to this concept.

So howcome i’m talking about karma all of a sudden? Well, being that i was sick today, i had a lot of time to think things over. And realized, that i just cant do bad things to people. Doing tou door kee baat, i cant even think of doing them. Why? because the universe makes me even with that person as soon as possible. I say something really nasty to someone, even for the sake of fun, and the next thing you know, i’ll be choking on a glass of water! I say something bad about someone behind their back, and i’ll be the one in hot water with someone else. It all settles down immediately.

I extend this to good things as well. Today, i was starting to feel lonely, being at home all day, not talking with anyone (friend nor family) and out of the blue i get an SMS followed by a call from a dear friend. That reminded me i still have friends here who think of me. Then i went out for dinner and out of the blue met my cousin, who had come to the same place for dinner with his family. So i had dinner with them.

So i guess the point is… you do good, and good things happen to you. You do bad, and all hell breaks loose :-D

couldn’t it just be that that is what was meant to happen, that you probably would’ve choked on your water anyway, and that the only way you wouldn’t have choked on your water was by making sure you didn’t inhale and drink at the same time??? AND if you believe in Karma, then you totally disregard the phrase ‘bad things happen to good people” which is one of the most true observations in the whole wide world!

Yep! Whatever you do, comes back to you. We literally grew up with that belief everyday of our lives. Especially at times mom needed to knock some sense into us! :)

everythingiseventual: That’s like taking the responsiblity of your actions totally off of your shoulders and saying “Oh, God meant this to happen”.uh uh. To some extent you are responsible for what happens to you, and to some you are being tested by God, to see if you will be able to handle the good he is about to hand out to you. :) Hence the bad things happen to good people…for a while! Eventually the bad people get what they deserve.

    sk: rightly said (second msg)

everythingiseventual: i believe bad things never happen to good people. they must’ve done something for which the universe is getting equal with them for. The universe, unlike us people, doesn’t keep grudges (thankgod) it sorts itself out.

psyched: not really.. just something i’ve been thinkin on
