magic

I

“I was wondering what would you say to getting a bahu?” he asked his mother. “Beta, your happiness is the most important thing for me! But dont u think you should complete your goals first! Then think about marriage?” she replied knowing the motherly way that his crush would bring her down.. “trust me, when you meet her.. u’ll just walk upto her, say hi and it will be like magic”

II

“My parents are really serious about getting me hitched you know. They’ve got rishtas lined up all over the place” she said to her best friend. He just nodded and smiled… thinking of the possibilities that never were to be.. “There’s this one guy, he’s a surgeon! Just think! All the money and none of the husband! haha! And this other one is a…” she droned on..

III

“I have to use the rest room” he interrupted her.. he had to get away.. the thoughts were overwhelming.. he was about to let her get away.. she was his happiness yet she’ll be with someone else… he started running towards to restroom, just as he rounded the corner he bumped into her and notes scattered everywhere.. the perfect movie moment.. he bent down to help her.. “hey hi! sorry about this..” she smiled.. and it was like magic!

Hey! It was magic between my ex and me too…he did the ‘disappearing act’! :p
I love the magic and all….beautiful concept and very well written…used to believe in it…but doesn’t the guy in the third one come off as a bit ‘wishy washy’ (if that is a word!). I mean one minute he is running to the restroom in pain coz ’she was his happiness yet she’ll be with someone else’ and the next he sees this other girl and “it’s magic”…could also be a rebound, you know! :p
    But well written. :)

    aww maaaaan the second one….

where in the whole of that is any “fiction”?

  5. on 10 Apr 2007 at 4:06 pm mansoor

sk: it could also be the ‘illusion of love’ he had for the first girl. Something so strong (albeit in his own mind), that he was unable to disentangle himself from it. Nor was he able to move forward…. the other girl was to be his freedom, his impetus to break the shackles of all that he knew and shouldn’t have known to venture forth into a new era of his life :)

xill: for the most part, its fiction.. the thoughts behind it are a totally different story. There may be much more going on under the surface than meets the eye my friend ;)

    hmmm…hey, but did you know…..’could be a rebound!’ :)
