back to basics

I’ve realized, over the course of the last two years, that i am a social guy.
(yes, UD, i agree with you now)
So, in the spirit of letting me be me, i’ve finally decided to get a bit more social around here. Islamabad has, much to my astonishment, quite a vibrant arts and cultural scene going on. With everyday news of a gallery exhibition, a theater play or a get together reaching me via the news papers or online resources.
This weekend, i’ve jam packed myself with activities, from seeing a play, to going to a meeting, and to attending a reading… its all there! Yayy! plus, i might also be going hiking! that’s definitely something to look forward to!
Watch out Islamabad! Mansoor is back on the scene!
Also, i realized that this new *social* me came exactly one year after my last resolve to be more social. When i disclosed this fact to my mother, the one thing she had to say (God bless her!) was “well, atleast the last time was fun and exciting! It will be this time around as well!” how’s that for maternal support!!
Now i just have to go and write something to read at the reading….

i truly believe that one of the best things in life is to be a social bee bzzzing around and doing! its fun, its exciting and it means ur a living breathing machine. id love to join you for the exhibitions, plays and reading this weekend…good luck with the material xx
Play sounds a great idea…its been quite some time since I was at one…
I was actually wondering what 20somethings do for fun in Pakistan. Here in US it’s clubs, bars, movies and restaurants, the occasional camping or hiking trip. I have a Pakistani friend who goes to the mosque on the weekend, occasionally restaurants, the library - but other than that, sits at home. I was wondering if all Pakistani youngsters hang out at home but your post suggests differently. Hmmm…tell more.
Now i just have to go and write something to read at the reading….
hehhhhhheee…..i dunnow why i found it funny…and some how i ended up envisioining u in a shirwani saying ‘arz kea hae’, standing at the podium….i guess i still have those 70s literary gatherings in mind.
iced: you said it girl!! i’d love to have you join me! i’ll look you up whenever we’re in the same town 2 go catch a show
utp: it is! and it was!!!
beks: well, it depends mostly on who you meet. e.g. most of my friends would love hanging out at a tea shop or coffee shop most days. I, for one, like attending events whether it be talks, seminars or plays. i also hang out at home a lot, since my parents are fun to talk with
i can spend hours just chit chatting with them, which, i know, might appear weird but i like it.
tanzilla: lolss!! welcome baq to the blog girl! now keep coming baq you hear!! you never know
i just might write something like that
mansoor, i hold you to that!
hehehe good to know i was right

PS- ur mom sounds so cute, support from parents is awesome!
also, get your clock working right
i got the same reaction and vision as tanzi with all that ’something to read at the reading’….gawwd! u actually call that socializing eh?? i salute u!
waisey, isl has all those ’serious’ gt types nai?
well…as they say, after a clamity and a shake up - its good to go out and meet ppl. sigh…if i were a guy…social butterfly ka aisi ki taisi!

iced: definitely
UD: lol, sometimes you are… othertimes, i am
mystique: yup.. its liberating to be able to talk with someone on larger issues than the latest dress color and shoe designs :p (no offense ;))
